Dario's Dirty Dozen

I asked Dario to pick out a dozen or so of his favorite photographs from our trip. I was a little surprised at some of his choices, but I promised to post them all without any deletions.

There was no promise to avoid editorial comment, though, so I take advantage of this loophole where necessary.

My own picks are scattered throughout my journal entries... or will be, eventually.

The slightly creepy wall of fan graffiti at Graceland

The wall running across the front of the Graceland estate is covered with signatures and messages left by fans.

Also slightly creepy, me in the NY subway

Um. I have no idea why he chose this picture of me riding the New York subway. I think I look pretty crappy, and there were several more flattering shots to choose from.

I asked him for his motivation, but he just said, "Because I like it." Okay, then.

  New York, baby!

Neither of us had ever spent time in this part of the city. We had a great day walking around with Kathleen, visiting the Whitney (including a celebrity sighting, which I will eventually write about), and just generally hanging out.

  Kathleen listens attentively

Kathleen, at the party, tossed in among the Suspects and other "online people."

She held her own quite admirably, of course.

  Joy and kbs chow down

More Cowgirl fun by Joy and kbs of TUS fame.

Do I have cute friends, or what?

  Special effects over Brooklyn

Sun shining over Brooklyn.

  Me with really crappy hair

Again, I have to wonder at Dario's judgement.

It was a grey day in Long Island. On Long Island. Over Long Island? Whatever.

  Family tree. Aren't we cute?

A genuine family tree!

My nephew (who drives!) on the left, my sister on the right, and me, of course, in the middle. It was dark out, so the colors are a bit strange.

  Jack o' Lanterns

Dario and my sister carved pumpkins, he for the very first time ever.

Can you guess which one was his?
(It's the one on the left. But you knew that, right?)

  Brightly colored Philly

A funky section of Philadelphia, not far from where we were staying.

We loved Philly.

  Peaceful, genteel Philly

Just a few blocks away, a shady genteel neighborhood with an entirely different vibe.

  Stairway to, um, upstairs

These were the stairs leading up to our room at the B&B. They were even narrower and steeper than they look, actually.

  The Shippen Way Inn.

And here's the B&B from the outside. I heartily recommend this place to anyone visiting Philadelphia.
